Walter
was
born in Chapel Lane, Blean in 1886 and was educated in the village school till

They organised their daily activities and meticulously carried them out, showing “a versatility ready to tackle any job from locksmithery to preparing a wicket”. Walter ran the gas engine that pumped the water and worked the dynamo. He rang the 7.15 rising bell till his last day at school in 1955. A keen and astute cricketer he was one-time captain of Harbledown C.C. He was elected an honorary member of the Old Canterburian Club. He died on August 8th 1964.
