R ‘DICKY’ RUSSELL DADDS
Dicky
was
at Kent College from 1917 to 1922 and there began the interest in music which
was later to give him his career as singer and teacher before his retirement
that ended in his death in 18 June 1975.
He always exuded and old-world charm and genial friendliness as a person, and these qualities were allied to a devoted fondness for KC to which he gave his support all his life. He not only attended Old Canterburians meetings at the school but took a very active part in the Club’s affairs, serving on the Committee for many years.
In 1956-1958 he became President when in the Headmaster’s words, he showed a sense of pastoral responsibility and made invaluable contacts that involved considerable travelling round the UK. His steady loving support of all the school did, helped at various crises.
