IAN  HEWISON

Ian was at Kent College from 1931 to 1937 – the generation that saw the changeover from the Brownscombe to the Prickett  era.

He was one who gave himself wholeheartedly to any pursuit or interest he followed, and the Old Canterburians were fortunate to have him among those who after the vicissitudes and turmoil of the war years, were ready and willing to set the Club on its feet again.  As with his farming and his hockey, Ian gave himself up to the Club’s interest becoming an enthusiastic founder member and Secretary of the re-formed Kent Section.  He also became the Club’s representative on the Committee of the newly-founded Friends of Kent College where his sensible and down to earth approach to problems gained him respect and friends.

His death while on a ski-ing holiday in Switzerland in January 1982 was the more unexpected and distressing as he had not lost his zest for life.
