ERIC “Nobby” A. MARTIN-CLARK

Nobby came to K.C. in 1922 and left in 1926.  As a boy he was an all-round sportsman, gaining First XI Colours at soccer, hockey and cricket.  After the War he captained the O.C. Touring XI in East Anglia.

As a person, he showed himself both witty and sensible and gave himself wholeheartedly to the Old Canterburian Club for 55 years after leaving school - enlivening committee meetings and dinners alike with his good sense and fun.  In public life his activities covered a wide range of interests - President of the S.E.London Association of Optical Practitioners, a Freeman of the City of London, Chairman of Penge Urban District Council, a member of Kent County Council, Captain at different times of New Beckenham and Sydenham Cricket Clubs, and President of Hurstpierpoint Bowling Club.

This very fully occupied life in no way diminished his loyalty and devotion to the school, evident to the day of his death on September 25th 1982.
